Academy often thinks of M.Phil as a master’s degree in philosophy rather than an advanced research degree known as a master’s degree in philosophy.
Other students in the academy may consider MPhil students to be Ph.D. students who do not have a Ph.D.and have only one MPhil left.
However, MPhil is a valuable postgraduate qualification that many employers seek. when hiring people for jobs such as researchers and other academic research disciplines.
Most MPhil students do research and use it as a step towards getting a Ph.D. But this is not always the case.
Some MPhil students do a year or two of research and don’t want to get a Ph.D., while others have a Ph.D. but don’t want to continue.
This means that M.Phil students spend hours in the lab or library, but unlike Ph.D. Students, they are unlikely to have an auxiliary or educational position.
